Term 3 Week 5: Our old normal: Distance Learning

Me mahi tahi tātou mō te oranga ō te kātoa! Be united as one for the greater good of all.

This week we have all done our best to keep a routine in our bubbles with akomanga 16 students being online at 9.00am for karakia each morning. During our online sessions we do karakia, catch up on how we are doing and what mahi we have for the day. If we can we will also play a Kahoot together which most tamariki want to do over anything else.

I have really enjoyed seeing the tamariki connecting online with each other and especially the year 0 - 3 with support of their parents, which they have done an amazing job been online to learn! Whaea Tini knows it's not easy for all of us.

Rāmere our whanau joined us as well and played a  Kahoot based on Te Reo which we learn't for Rāpare - Reo. This is was fun for whanau to connect and as one mum's message said "That Kahoot! Was an awesome way to connect and to show learning Te Reo is fun. I was also told Whanau were getting very competitive!

Whanau Kahoot!

Winners of our Whanau Kahoot were Buster and Dee!

Term 3: Week 4 Lock Down Level 4

Kia haumaru te noho! Well two days at school this week and then Alert level 4 at 11.59pm for Aotearoa. So this week started as per normal but then learning returned to online meets.

I have to say we had really good attendance at school with 15 students most days and we had a really good week ahead planned. We started learning online from Thursday to give teachers time to take care our whanau and prepare for the days ahead. The most important part of lockdowns i have found are that tamariki have a routine and stay connected with their class mates. This is what the purpose of meets are really all about for me and hopefully a little learning along the way.

Our tamariki have been doing their best to complete some of our online tasks for Pānui, Tuhituhi and Pāngarau, so make sure to check out of the work and give our tamariki some feedback.

Term 3 Week 3: Calendar Art

Ngā Mihi! Akomanga 16 have been working hard on our calendar art and also testing our knowledge in Pānui, TuhiTuhi, Pāngarau and Te Reo Māori.

The Tamariki have worked really hard finishing off their calendar art by cutting out kōwhaiwhai patterns, pasting them on a blank piece of paper, colouring the negative space, using what to enhance different space and then covering the piece with dye.

The tuakana have been writing a pieces of persuasive text, trying to convience me to watch the new ' Space Jam' movie, which i hope they share these to their individual blogs soon.  On Friday Rāmere the students go to invent a game using paper cups, paper plate and other bits and pieces.

Make sure to check out some of our picture but also it would be great if you could leave a comment below.
