Week 8: Clearing out and Sending items home!

What a week of doing mahi from pāngarau, tuhituhi, hauora and also watchinig out sunflower plants sprouting. The tamariki have really enjoyed planting sunflowers, watering them each day and watching them grow.

We have taken time to reflect on the year and we are busy preparing for next week celebrations from prize giving, graduation and our special event of the year Poroporoaki.

Term 4: Week 6 Hauora

 

Wiki tua ono!

 The tauira have been working each day on basic facts, Pāngarau, Tuhituhi and Pānui but the main focus is our hauora. In room 16 tauira we have been doing our best to stay connected to students who are not yet back at school via meets twice a day. 

We have found that some days are better than others but that is okay as well. If is really nice when new students come back to school and the one thing we can be sure about is that things are always changing! 

In our akomanga and kainga we have been doing our best do activities to look after our whare tapa wha: Here is Hikitia te hā.

Term 4: Week 5: Friendships and back to school!

 

Week 5 has been a hard week for us all! I have to say masks are not the easiest to wear all day as a teacher but i will show manawaroa whanau!

Room 16 has been writing and reading about friendships from how to be a good friend, what makes a good friend and how to problem solve the challenges of friendships.

In pāngarau the tuakana have been learning about identifying patterns and the teina have been learnng about place value. Take a look at our teina padlet to check out and comment on their work.

Tamariki feedback on returning to school

How was your first three days at school:
Tui: It was good to see my friend and to play.
Nevaeh: Awesome to see my friends the teachers and to play games outside with them.
Noah: It was very excited to go back to school to see everyone in my  class and it was very exciting on the first day of school.

Term 3 Week 6 & 7: Level 4 Learning Experience

 Kia Haumaru te noho tātou!

I do hope you have all tried to get sometime outdoors and spending time with those in your mirumiru (bubble). We have all been doing our best to keep connected by morning meets as a whanau and also using online games to have some fun.

The akonga have been earning fale tokens for participating in meets, engaging in set daily tasks and showing our New Windsor Way during our online communications.

Our Teina Remy and Levi have been working really hard at home with their parents on the daily tasks. Take a look and make a comment on their work on our padlet.

Term 3 Week 3: Calendar Art

 Ngā Mihi! Akomanga 16 have been working hard on our calendar art and also testing our knowledge in Pānui, TuhiTuhi, Pāngarau and Te Reo Māori.

The Tamariki have worked really hard finishing off their calendar art by cutting out kōwhaiwhai patterns, pasting them on a blank piece of paper, colouring the negative space, using what to enhance different space and then covering the piece with dye. 

The tuakana have been writing a pieces of persuasive text, trying to convience me to watch the new ' Space Jam' movie, which i hope they share these to their individual blogs soon.  On Friday Rāmere the students go to invent a game using paper cups, paper plate and other bits and pieces.

Term 1 Week 8: Whanaungatanga

 Ngā Mihi kia koutou katoa,

The tauira this week have been busy getting on with our core subjects, Te Reo, pūtaiao and learning about Ngā atua Māori, their responsibilities and which of our New Windsor Ways they show. The tauira have realised they all show different attributes which depend on their actions during the creation story or what their role is. 

We also learn't about how to take good photo's on our ipad and then took pictures of tauira displaying the kawa of care.

We always make sure to do pūtaiao which this week was Suck it up learning about how water and minerals are sucked up via the plants roots into the stem for the plant to live but if a soil pest is added this can stop the water and minerals been sucked up. Which has an impact on the health of the plant. Tauria really enjoys these hands on experiments.

                              

                        

 

Term 1 Week 7: Whakamātautau The Week of Testing

Tena koutou katoa!

Akomanga 16 has a very busy week of learning and testing our reading, writing and math's skills. We had a really engaging and exciting pūtaiao lessons where we made tube tornados.

Also we have all been discussing and working on one of our New Windsor Way learner profiles Manawaroa (resilience). We have done this by not giving up when we find our work a challenge and when we do our karakia or kōrero. The students learn't about Tane and he showed resilience when he split his parents Ranginui and Papatuanuku by being fearless, tough and he didn't give up when it got hard.  The tauira are developing mahi tahi (collaboration) in all areas of our school work.

This week we finished off our self portraits, which have developed in great pieces of students self perception. The students also really enjoy doing just dance for fitness time.

In week 9 we have parent student goal setting meetings, so we have been setting goals visually.

Term 1: Week 2: Getting to know our classroom routines and expectations

 Kia Ora E te whanau,

This week we have slowly been looking at what our class routines will be like in the coming weeks in akomanga 16. We always start our day with karakia, kōrero and eventually waiata, with our tuakana displaying confidence by standing first to kōrero.

We have been engaging in Pāngarau, Tuhituhi, Pānui, Te Reo Māori and Pūtaiao. The akonga found our pūtaiao lesson fun this week exploring forces with our balloon rockets. The akonga have been tested on spelling this week to help us become better spellers, readers and writers.

We are working as tuakana and teina in the akomanga and our tuakana have been doing an amazing job helping out teina in all aspects of our kura.

Week 3 we are hoping to introduce devices into our akomanga, so we will need to learn how to be safe on devices but also to look after them in our akomanga.
