Week 8: Clearing out and Sending items home!

What a week of doing mahi from pāngarau, tuhituhi, hauora and also watchinig out sunflower plants sprouting. The tamariki have really enjoyed planting sunflowers, watering them each day and watching them grow.

We have taken time to reflect on the year and we are busy preparing for next week celebrations from prize giving, graduation and our special event of the year Poroporoaki.

Term 4: Week 6 Hauora

 

Wiki tua ono!

 The tauira have been working each day on basic facts, Pāngarau, Tuhituhi and Pānui but the main focus is our hauora. In room 16 tauira we have been doing our best to stay connected to students who are not yet back at school via meets twice a day. 

We have found that some days are better than others but that is okay as well. If is really nice when new students come back to school and the one thing we can be sure about is that things are always changing! 

In our akomanga and kainga we have been doing our best do activities to look after our whare tapa wha: Here is Hikitia te hā.

Term 4: Week 5: Friendships and back to school!

 

Week 5 has been a hard week for us all! I have to say masks are not the easiest to wear all day as a teacher but i will show manawaroa whanau!

Room 16 has been writing and reading about friendships from how to be a good friend, what makes a good friend and how to problem solve the challenges of friendships.

In pāngarau the tuakana have been learning about identifying patterns and the teina have been learnng about place value. Take a look at our teina padlet to check out and comment on their work.

Tamariki feedback on returning to school

How was your first three days at school:
Tui: It was good to see my friend and to play.
Nevaeh: Awesome to see my friends the teachers and to play games outside with them.
Noah: It was very excited to go back to school to see everyone in my  class and it was very exciting on the first day of school.

Week 4: We are going back to school!

Today i got some of the tamariki to create a google draw to show How they are feeling about going to back school. 

Term 4: Week 3 Diwali and Whai koha (Responsible)

 

Kia Ora E te Whanau! 

The Tamariki of Akomanga 16 made sure to learn and celebrate in their own ways to respect Diwali  - festival of lights. I know we all learnt something new about Diwali.

Wāhanga Tua Toru Wiki Tekau: We have made it whanau!

Kia ora koutou, yes we made it, stayed connected, had some fun and learnt some new knowledge along the way. I am really proud of our tamariki who engaged in meets each day as i have seen real promise and growth in their Te Reo. We all did our best to keep connected and learning.

We celebrated Chinese Language week in week 10 with daily activities and a challenge for the week. Some of our tamariki submitted awesome pieces of mahi. Our Chinese zodiac winners were for the tuakana: Buster and teina: Remy, they both will get 50 tokens towards their Fale. All other entries will recieve 10 tokens each.
I know this lockdown has been a long one but hope all goes well over our holidays and we are back together in our akomanga learning and playing in our kura. We have a big term ahead, so enjoy your holidays and lets celebrate our learning!

KO TĒNEI TE WIKI O TE REO MĀORI

Māori Language Week has been celebrated each year from 1975. September 14 and commemorates the presentation of the 1972 Māori language petition to parliament.

Kia kaha te reo Māori 

‘Kia kaha’ is well understood in New Zealand English with its meaning of ‘be strong’. We often talk about languages as if they are people – talking about language health, strength and revitalisation. So when we say ‘Kia kaha te reo Māori’ we’re saying  - ‘Let’s make the Māori language strong'.

E aro ana te akomanga 16 ki tēnei kaupapa o Te Reo Māori, ahakoa he iti, he pounamu mō ngā tamariki nā te mea ko rātou ngā rangātira mō āpopo. Anei ngā mahi pāpai rawa mai te ako, te kōrero, te pānui me te whakarongo. Tītiro ki te paetukutuku hei ārahi i ō tātou mahi mō te wiki nei New Windsor Language Celebrations .

Term 3 Week 6 & 7: Level 4 Learning Experience

I do hope you have all tried to get sometime outdoors and spending time with those in your mirumiru (bubble). We have all been doing our best to keep connected by morning meets as a whanau and also using online games to have some fun.

The akonga have been earning fale tokens for participating in meets, engaging in set daily tasks and showing our New Windsor Way during our online communications.

Our Teina Remy and Levi have been working really hard at home with their parents on the daily tasks. Take a look and make a comment on their work on our padlet.

Term 3: Week 4 Lock Down Level 4

 Kia haumaru te noho! Well two days at school this week and then Alert level 4 at 11.59pm for Aotearoa. So this week started as per normal but then learning returned to online meets.

I have to say we had really good attendance at school with 15 students most days and we had a really good week ahead planned. We started learning online from Thursday to give teachers time to take care our whanau and prepare for the days ahead. The most important part of lockdowns i have found are that tamariki have a routine and stay connected with their class mates. This is what the purpose of meets are really all about for me and hopefully a little learning along the way.

Our tamariki have been doing their best to complete some of our online tasks for Pānui, Tuhituhi and Pāngarau, so make sure to check out of the work and give our tamariki some feedback.

Term 1 Week 3: Alert Level 3

 Kia Ora Koutou!

Well, what can we say about wiki tuatoru in akomanga 16. We couldn't come to school from Monday - Wednesday because of Auckland been put into Alert Level 3 due to the thing that shall not be named.

Monday was a day to prepare for the "what if's" and online learning was available from Tuesday. I do understand for some of our students this would have been difficult as we didn't have device's as yet and it is so early in the term. I am sure we all did our best but the main thing we stayed safe at home.

On Thursday we returned to school making sure to try not to sit close together and using sanitiser to keep our hands germ free. We tried our best to stay focused and make the most of the learning time left in week 3 by doing maths, reading, writng, Te Reo, practicing class routines, lots of discussions and playing games. What was encouraging to see on Friday was all the akonga really listening and focusing while Whaea Tini gave instructions to games in Te Reo Māori and the akonga starting to understand new words.

Also we said ka kite to Reggie for now but he will back! Thank you for working with and teaching our akonga. Good luck Reggie with your studies and we will see again soon.
